UTZ Certified Coffee

Over the past year we have received a number of questions asking if Mountain's Edge Coffee is "Fair Trade". Our response has always been NO, but we are UTZ CERTIFIED coffee. UTZ takes on the issue of sustainability for coffee growers in the 3rd world. The UTZ organization works with growers to organize into cooperatives and assists them in developing consistent processes for the drying and washing of the green beans thereby improving the overall quality of their coffee. A percentage of the proceeds are then reinvested back into the communities in local schools and hospitals improving their overall quality of life.

UTZ CERTIFIED also strives to empower farmers with professional coffee-growing and marketing techniques, so they can access more markets and develop better relationships with their buyers.

The UTZ CERTIFIED program helps growers become more professional and competitive . With an UTZ certification, coffee farmers of all sizes can demonstrate good agricultural practices, efficient farming methods and responsible production of their coffee. Moreover, because coffee roasters and brands are increasingly demanding UTZ CERTIFIED coffee, certification can offer growers access to new markets.
